Odd jobs
Funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Odd Job scheme is available for people in the Bury Metro area who are on a low income or have a disability. To access the service people need to be referred by a local agency such as Social Services or another local charity.
Examples of the sort of work do we do?
- Minor joinery work;
- Fitting locks or security chains;
- Fitting of towel rails, shelves etc;
- Painting and decorating;
- Putting up curtain rails and other small jobs.
- PLUS we have recently taken on a fully qualified electrician and we can now connect electric cookers to existing cooker points.
What can’t we do?
- Large scale work;
- Any gas work;
- Structural alterations;
- External decoration;
- Anything that is the responsibility of the landlord.
Is there any charge?
The client pays for the cost of materials (including VAT) plus a £5 minimum donation per job (or half day for jobs such as painting and decorating) towards the running costs of the service.
