Training with RE>BUILD

RE>BUILD is a positive, friendly environment where individual staff and volunteers can build on existing skills and gain new ones, whilst gaining on the job training and sometimes accredited training, such as Health & Safety.

A people-focused organisation, RE>BUILD is committed to the long-term personal and professional development of both paid staff and volunteers and we offer a varied training programme.  This includes the vital, but basic part of the training ‘package’ for volunteers, Induction, Manual Handling and Health & Safety (these last two both accredited courses).

Recently, thanks to both the BIG Lottery and Global Grants funding, training and personal development was taken up by 26 staff and volunteers, many individuals taking part in more than one course.  Courses so far have included

Thanks to the Learning & Skills Council, Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities funding, a long-awaited Development Centre arrived in 2006.  This gives valuable additional space to work with small groups to deliver induction and other relevant training.  Also through the learning & Skills Council we are currently planning some basic d-i-y and joinery courses, and ran our first upholstery class in the autumn of 2006.

Training:

Manual Handling

Most of our Manual Handling training is delivered in-house.  It is a half day course and trainees can take a multiple choice test to obtain the qualification.  This course can help our volunteers when applying for jobs.

Health & Safety

This is also usually delivered in-house and again trainees can take a multiple choice test to obtain the qualification.  This qualification is one that many employers insist on and it will also help volunteers to obtain work.

Information Technology

This is also delivered in-house in our IT suite and volunteers can start with very basic ‘IT for the terrified’ to more complex training leading to a qualification.

Other training

Other training is offered, in particular Diversity and Equal Opportunities, and Tool Recognition and use.
